"Battle Battered" 3rd Armored Division Spearhead

The 3rd Armored Division, nicknamed "Spearhead," was one of the first American armored divisions to see action in Europe after the Normandy landings. Arriving shortly after June 6, 1944, it played a key role in the Avranches breakthrough and the liberation of France. Engaged in a rapid advance through Belgium and Germany, the division distinguished itself during the Battle of the Bulge and then in the capture of Cologne. Known for its mobility and firepower, the "Spearhead" made history with its meteoric advance into the heart of the Third Reich.

A bit of history

In this American factory, thousands of M1 helmets were pressed, inspected, and painted to equip the Allied forces. A symbol of American industrial ingenuity, the M1 helmet was mass-produced starting in 1941, combining manganese steel and technical innovation. This video demonstrates the intensity of the war effort mobilized on American soil.
