Infantry Helmet - Original McCord

Produced between late 1943 and late 1944, this McCord helmet features a stainless steel front-seam rim and swivel loops. This model was widely distributed to American forces during the final years of World War II. The swivel loopsallowed for a better fit of the chinstrap but were also more durable. This helmet, restored to its original specifications, represents the typical equipment of the American soldier engaged on the fronts of 1944 to 1945.

A bit of history

In this American factory, thousands of M1 helmets were pressed, inspected, and painted to equip the Allied forces. A symbol of American industrial ingenuity, the M1 helmet was mass-produced starting in 1941, combining manganese steel and technical innovation.
