About

Helmet shell is an original Austrian steel shell, with a rear seam and swivel chinstrap loops, repainted in matte OD (Olive Drab). The helmet is equipped with a pair of reproduction Viet Nam OD#7 chinstraps.

The original US "HELMET GROUND TROOPS TYPE 1" liner, dated 1976, is included with its original components ("internal suspension," "headband," and neckband).

A bit of history

In 1960s America, factories restarted production of M1 shells to meet the needs of the Vietnam conflict. Although modernized, the design remained faithful to that of World War II. It featured a more matte paint job and simplified finishes, but still retained the same iconic shape that accompanied a new generation of soldiers into the hostile terrain of Southeast Asia.
