Discover the M1 helmet of a paratrooper from the 517th PRCT of World War II, with its typical unit camouflage. This patinated version from the "Battle Battered" range comes with its post-war fiber liner modified to infantry version. This is the version of the M1 helmet often used to replace the M2 version with fixed D-loops.

Coque

M1 heavy infantry helmet shell, original US WWII steel, of Austrian origin, produced between 1975 and 1990. Imitated front seam and fixed attachment loops. Reproduction of OD#3 heavy helmet chinstraps, rigger made, typical of the 517th PRCT. Repainted in Olive Drab 7, the shade used by the U.S. Army between 1936 and 1944. The shell has a textured finish due to the addition of cork during the painting process.

Liner Fibre

Surplus liner made of compressed fiber, post-war US origin, modified to infantry version. Includes a sweatband, brown leather chinstrap, and neck band. Also features the typical front eyelet found on American liners. Sandblasted and completely repainted.

A Noter

All of our helmet shells are made of steel and are surplus military equipment. Some are over 50 years old. They may show signs of use and aging due to storage. Although they are repainted and refurbished, some evidence of their past use remains visible.

Battle Battered 517th PRCT

The 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team (517th PRCT) was a U.S. Army regiment specialized in airborne troops, particularly in paratrooper infantry. It was formed in March 1943 during World War II, training at Camp Toccoa in the mountains of northeast Georgia. During the relatively short lifespan of the unit, members of the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team received one Medal of Honor, six Distinguished Service Crosses, five Legions of Merit, 131 Silver Stars, 631 Bronze Stars, two Air Medals, four Soldiers Medals, 17 French Croix de Guerre, and 1,576 Purple Hearts—at the cost of 252 officers and soldiers killed in action.

    The paint used on this Battle Battered version is the same as on our other helmets. It is an Olive Drab tint used by the U.S. Army between 1936 and 1944. The 517th PRCT camouflage has been patinated like the rest of the shell.

    The M1 infantry helmet shell was coated with a cork texture that served both practical and aesthetic purposes. The texture broke up the soldier's silhouette and reduced sun glare, providing camouflage and protection. The cork is applied with the paint, making it an integral part of the helmet's design.

  • Jugulaire Battle Battered 517th PRCT

    Reproduction of heavy helmet chinstraps typical of the unit, with a rigger-made chin cup. They are artificially worn and soiled to give a used and aged appearance to this 517th PRCT helmet.
