299,00€

Reproduction of the US M1-C helmet as used by a non-commissioned officer (NCO) of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) of the 101st Airborne Division, specifically configured for Operation Market Garden in September 1944.

The shell is completed with a small-mesh net and a reproduction first aid kit, adding to its field realism. Inside, the liner is a Westinghouse post-war fiberglass model, equipped with a fabric chin strap attached to the liner. This helmet is a historically accurate representation of the equipment worn by American airborne troops in the Netherlands.

About

Shell

The basis of this reproduction is an original Austrian steel helmet shell (1975-1990s). It has been repainted in matte Olive Drape (OD), the US Army's standard color between 1936 and 1944. Modified for paratrooper configuration with movable attachment points, it is equipped with reproduction M1-C chinstraps in OD#3 Khaki canvas. This shell bears the markings of a non-commissioned officer of the 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne, and has been patinated to simulate authentic field use.

Liner Fiber

Surplus Dutch compressed fiber helmet liner. With sweatband (headband), brown leather chinstrap and neckband. The liner also has the front eyelet typical of American liners. Modified into a Westinghouse paratrooper version with the addition of "A Yokes" in color OD#7 and its fabric chinstrap.

Painting "Battle Battered" 506th PIR NCO Market Garden

The paint used on this Battle Battered version is the same as our other helmets. It is an Olive Drab tint used by the US Army between 1936 and 1944. The insignia of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment is patinated like the rest of the shell.

Texture "Battle Battered" 506th PIR NCO Market Garden

The texture of the "cork" is crushed and patinated in order to give a worn effect to the helmet. This is an aspect found on the original US M1 helmets.

Chinstrap "Battle Battered" 506th PIR NCO Market Garden

This reproduction features specially patinated M1-C paratrooper helmet chinstraps. The wear and soiling have been artificially applied to simulate the appearance of field-use equipment. This aged finish adds added realism to the overall helmet of this 506th PIR, 101st Airborne.

"Battle Battered" 506th PIR NCO Market Garden

On September 17, 1944, paratroopers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) landed on Dutch soil. Their objective was clear: to secure key bridges for the Allied advance, notably the Wilhelmina Canal bridge at Son. Despite a rapid assembly, their momentum was shattered. Instead of capturing the bridges over the Dommel River and quickly reaching Eindhoven, their advance toward Son was violently halted. In the heart of the city, a formidable German 88mm gun sealed off access, transforming the lightning operation into a bitter fight, far from the original plan.

A bit of history

In this American factory, thousands of M1 helmets were pressed, inspected, and painted to equip the Allied forces. A symbol of American industrial ingenuity, the M1 helmet was mass-produced starting in 1941, combining manganese steel and technical innovation. This video demonstrates the intensity of the war effort mobilized on American soil.
