The sides bear the distinctive insignia of the 36th Infantry Division, a symbol inherited from its Texan origins. The textured cork-based paint, the worn effects and the details in accordance with the standards of the time make it a piece suitable for reenactment or collection.

Original Austrian steel US WW2 infantry helmet shell produced between 1975 and 1990. Original rim joint at the back with swivel loops. The shell has been repainted in matte OD (Olive Drap), the color used by the American army between 1936 and 1944 and fitted with reproductions of helmet infantry chinstraps in khaki OD#3 canvas. "Battle Battered" 36th Infantry Division

The 36th Infantry Division, nicknamed the "Texas Division," was one of the first American units to land in Italy in 1943. It distinguished itself at Salerno and then at Monte Cassino in particularly difficult fighting in mountainous terrain. After the Italian campaign, the division participated in the landings in Provence in August 1944, continuing its advance through the Rhône Valley to Alsace. The arrowed T-shaped insignia evokes the commitment of this division, composed largely of the Texas National Guard, whose soldiers fought tenaciously on several European fronts.
