SweatBand Liner US M1

Sweatband for the US M1 liner, in leather and HBT canvas. Fitted into the Riddell-type suspension system of the liner, this headband holds the head centred inside the helmet liner. This reproduction is made from supple leather and hard-wearing HBT canvas. The sweatband is supplied with its metal fittings: the retaining clips and its adjustment buckle.

Two versions are available, depending on the hardware:
Green painted steel: painted steel buckle and clips, matching sweatbands produced from 1942 to mid-1944. For fitting an Early or Mid-War liner.
Blackened brass: brass buckle and clips with a black finish, matching the hardware adopted from mid-1944 onwards. For fitting a Late War liner.

The leather comes from a French tannery partner. It is a raw milled leather, oiled with neatsfoot oil, die-cut using a tool made from the 1944 technical drawings. Because the leather is oiled and left raw, colour and appearance vary from one piece to another and change over time and with use, as they did on original sweatbands.

The sweatband adjusts to head sizes between 52cm and 64cm.
