This faithful replica of the German M40 helmet represents the model specifically assigned to Luftwaffe (Air Force) units.

The shell is coated in the regulation Luftwaffe Blue-Grey color. The finish is in accordance with period practice: the paint and texture were achieved by the controlled addition of aluminum oxide (corundum). This process gives the helmet a slightly grainy , matte appearance, essential for reducing glare and improving camouflage in the field.

This helmet features its two original insignia (decals) : the Luftwaffe eagle is positioned on the left side, and the national shield in the colors of the Reich is on the right side.
