"Battle Battered" US NAVY

The US navy experienced substantial growth in the years leading up to World War II, with the revival of battleship production in 1937, starting with the USS North Carolina (BB-55) ship. During the early years of the war, while the US was still neutral, they continued to expand their fleet by increasing the production of ships of various sizes.
