About

US WW2 infantry M1 steel helmet shell of Austrian origin, produced between 1950 and 1990. Rear rim seam and swivel loops. Reproduction OD#3 steel helmet chinstraps. Repainted in Olive Drab 7, the shade used by the US Army between 1936 and 1944, then painted in US Navy Blue Grey. The shell has a textured finish thanks to cork added during the painting process.

Surplus compressed-fibre M1-type liner of Belgian origin (ABL), fully reassembled. With headband, brown leather chinstrap and neckband. Also has the front eyelet typical of American liners.

All our helmet shells are made of steel and come from military surplus stock. Some of them are more than 50 years old. They may show signs of use and ageing due to storage. Although they have been repainted and refurbished, some evidence of their past use remains visible.

The liner is one size, but is adjustable in depth and head circumference.

Painting "Battle Battered" USN Captain

The paint used on this Battle Battered version is the same as on our other helmets: an Olive Drab shade used by the US Army between 1936 and 1944, followed by US Navy Blue Grey paint.

Texture "Battle Battered" USN Captain

The "cork" texture has been crushed and weathered to give the helmet a worn look. This is an appearance found on original US M1 helmets.

Chinstrap "Battle Battered" USN Captain

The steel helmet chinstrap is a reproduction made by Mon Casque M1 with woven webbing copied from the period model. Reproduction brass hardware.
